About four years ago, I blogged for a bit, but as with many creative pursuits of mine, I let it slide. I found it again, and suddenly missed it, so here I am. Of course, I couldn't figure out how to revitalize the old blog...typical...but I like my new title better so, YAY!!! Here I go again.
Today is Christy's 15th birthday. She is my fourth daughter and a lovely person. She is kind and helpful. I don't think she can imagine being anything but good. With my health issues, she does more than her fair share of helping around here. She doesn't complain, she just helps and it makes me very proud. Gabby is home for another few days from college. She helped me decorate for Christy's celebration, meaning she hung the fabric flag banners I made last year, that we use for such occasions. Ron is flying home from his business trip and should be here in time for dinner. It's a good day.
WHAT'S FOR DINNER
Birthday person gets to pick so it's Christy's favorites for dinner....chicken enchiladas, salad with homemade ranch dressing, fresh fruit salad and crockpot chocolate lava cake (from Taste of Home) for dessert.
SAVING SUCCESSES
I try to be thrifty every day. Today I found success by making all of dinner and Christy's cake from scratch instead of going to a restaurant. I went to Sam's Club and stuck to the list, which is usually tricky for me to do. I visited my dad and he treated me and Gabby to lunch. I reused decorations for the family birthday party. I have doors and windows open so the sweet spring breeze flows through our house. I made waffles from scratch (even with home ground white whole wheat) for Christy's birthday breakfast and froze the leftovers for future breakfasts...she can just pop them in the toaster. Much healthier and less expensive than Eggo's.
